Delhi Capitals senior bowler Ishant Sharma has left the field after injuring himself while fielding in 2024 IPL’s 2nd match against Punjab Kings on March 23.

The fast bowler sustained the injury during the 6th over of the inning when impact player Prabhsimran flicked Mitchell Marsh’s slower-length delivery towards the deep mid-wicket.
Ishant twists his right ankle and struggles in pain while attempting to pick up the ball. Following his immense pain, the team’s physio entered the scene and helped him to leave the field.
Pravin Dubey comes as the substitute player for the injured Ishant Sharma. This will be a massive blow for the Delhi Capitals who scored 174 runs in the first inning.
Notably in the 4th over Ishant Sharma dismissed the dangerous Shikhar Dhawan for 22 runs and also dismissed Jonny Bairstow via runout at the non-striker end.

With Ishant Sharma’s injury, Delhi Capitals might suffer a blow in the first match of the season itself. Though there were no official information regarding his injury status, Ishant Sharma is expected to be fit for DC’s upcoming games.
Speaking on the match, Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first where Delhi Capitals scored 174 runs for 9 wickets loss at the end of 20 overs.
Abishek Porel scored 25 runs off the final over bowled by Harshal Patel and helped Delhi Capitals to finish strongly. Notably, both Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are still waiting to lift their maiden IPL trophy.
