With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup set to begin within a few days after the completion of the IPL, India might be looking forward to ending the ICC trophy drought.

On this occasion, Irfan Pathan who was part of the squad that won the World Cup in 2007 has named his selection for India’s T20 World Cup squad. The Indian batting lineup still depends on senior batters like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Being named as the captain Rohit Sharma will be leading the side in the USA and West Indies while the inclusion of Virat Kohli is still under discussion.

Other than these he picked Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rinku Singh in the batting lineup.

Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are the two all-rounders picked by Irfan Pathan. When it comes to wicketkeepers, he believes that two Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Jitesh Sharma will be included.

He feels Pant and Jitesh Sharma are the frontrunners for the position and picked Kuldeep Yadav and Bishnoi for the Spinner department.

He picked up Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj for the pacers department. He believes that Arshdeep Singh or Mohsin Khan should be included.

All teams have to unveil the squad before the deadline on May 01 but can make changes to their squad before May 25. The first batch of Indian players who did not play in the qualifiers will leave for the USA on May 19.

The 9th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to begin on June 02 with the United States and Canada playing in the first match of the campaign at Grand Prairie Stadium. ICC has revealed the venue for the famous rivalry match between India and Pakistan to be played at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 09.

India will be playing their first match of the World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 05 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
