    Ireland Struggles with 74/6 against Brilliant Bowling Display from Canada

    Despite restricting Canada to 137 runs, Ireland failed to keep the momentum in their batting during the T20 World Cup 2024 match played on June 07 at New York Stadium.

    Choosing to bowl first, Ireland showed up a brilliant bowling display in the match. While starting their innings, they started to lose wickets at regular intervals. The top order and middle order failed to create an impression in the match. They lost 6 wickets scoring only 74 runs by the end of the 15th over.

    Coming to the match, Ireland won the toss and chose to bowl first considering the pitch conditions. Mark Adair picked the wicket of the opener Navneet Dhaliwal in the third over of the match to give a positive start for the side. With Aaron Jonshon’s dismissal, Canada scored only 37 runs by the end of power play.

    After Parget’s dismissal for 14 runs, Delany picked the wicket of Dilpreet Bajwa for 7 runs in the 9th over. By the end of the 10th over, Canada lost four wickets for scoring 63 runs. Nicholas Kirton and Shreyas Movva joined hands in the pursuit of recovering the sides from early dismissals.

    Nicholas Kirton played an impressive innings by scoring 49 runs in 35 deliveries while Shreyas Movva’s 37 runs knock helped the side to score 137 runs by the end of 20 overs.

    With a target of 138 runs, Ireland started their innings where Paul Stirling was sent out for 9 runs by Gordon. Junaid Siddiqui picked the wicket of Andrew Balbirnie for 17 runs in the 07th over.

    Zafar picked the wicket of experienced Harry Tector for seven runs and with the run out of Lorcan Tucker for 10 runs, Irelland lost four wickets for 50 runs by the end of the 10th over.

    Dillion Heyliger dismissed Curtis Campher and Gareth Delany for 4 and 3 runs putting more pressure on Ireland. George Dockrell and Mark Adair forged hands to recover the side on the scoreboard.

    Mark Adair scored 34 runs before being dismissed by Gordon while George Dockrell scored 30 runs on 23 deliveries. By the end of 20 overs, Ireland lost seven wickets and scored only 125 runs.
