IPL 2025 Mega Auction Likely to be Held in Riyadh

With the retained players list announced on October 31, the focus has shifted to the updates for the date and venue for the IPL 2025 mega auction.

According to some reports, the event is scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Riyadh, though an official confirmation from BCCI is yet to be revealed.

Sources indicate that the final arrangements are in progress and an announcement is anticipated very soon.

However, scheduling complications would arise as the auction dates coincide with India’s first test match against Australia in Perth, starting on November 22 at Perth.

Disney Star, who holds the broadcast rights for both the IPL and the Australia-India tests, is keen to avoid a direct overlap between the events. But the due to time difference with Australia, the auction, if held in the afternoon would likely avoid clashes with the match broadcast.

With the IPL 2025 mega auction around the corner, anticipation is high as franchises prepare to make pivotal bids on high-profile players. Players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan and Arshdeep Singh will enter into the auction pool, each renowned for their impact in the T20 format.

These players have been invaluable assets for any franchise aiming for a strong 2025 season. Several franchises have already declared their retention, these five players will undoubtedly be at the centre of intense bidding wars.

Pant’s explosive batting skills with a dynamic leadership potential and KL Rahul’s consistency with the bat are especially appealing attributes in a fast-paced tournament in the IPL.

Reports suggest that BCCI officials have already conducted preliminary visits to Saudi Arabia to assess potential venues.

A second delegation is expected to travel to the Gulf nation on Monday to finalize details. While Jeddah was initially considered, Riyadh the capital has emerged as the most likely host city for the two-day auction.

Given this move outside India, IPL franchises are urging BCCI to finalize the venues and dates promptly to allow enough time for travel and logistical arrangements. With a retention deadline of October 31, teams are working to finalize their player lists shifting focus to the upcoming auction.
