Mayank’s Quickfire 3 Wickets Helps Lucknow to beat Bengaluru
With the defeat, Royal Challengers Bengaluru become the first team in this IPL season to register back-to-back defeats in their home venue. Also, RCB created an unwanted record by becoming the first team to be bowled out in IPL 2024 season.
Speaking of the match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the toss and opted to bowl where Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul opened the innings for LSG.
The opening duo made a decent start and pushed the team to score 53 runs for the 1st wicket. Maxwell broke the partnership by dismissing LSG captain KL Rahul in the final over of the 1st powerplay.
Soon, Devdutt Padikkal also lost his wicket for just 6 runs. Following a couple of early dismissals, Quinton de Kock took the responsibilities in hand and made a steady inning from one end.
Quinton on joining hands with Marcus Stoinis made a 56-run stand for the next wicket. Maxwell strikes against and dismissed Marcus Stoinis for 24 runs in the 14th over. At the end of 20 overs, Lucknow Super Giants scored 181 runs for 5 wickets loss.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis opened the batting attack for RCB. Bengaluru’s top-order batters failed to stand against the LSG’s bowling attack and lost their wickets for cheap.
M Siddharth opened the wickets account by dismissing Virat Kohli for 22 runs and Faf du Plessis lost his wicket for 19 runs in the very next over while attempting a running between wickets.
Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green lost their wickets to Mayank Yadav’s aggression for 0 and 9 runs respectively. At the end of 10 overs, RCB managed to score 63 runs for 4 wickets loss.
With Anuj Rawat and Rajat Patidar’s dismissal, chasing the 180+ target seems a massive one for RCB. But Mahipal Lomror showed a positive sign in chasing the target by scoring 19 runs in the 16th over bowled by Yash Thakur.
But the same bowler dismissed Mahipal Lomror for 33 runs in his next over. At the end of 19.4 overs, RCB scored 153 runs for 10 wickets loss and fell 28 runs short for victory and registered their 3rd defeat of the season.
