Indian Players in County Championship 2024: The 124th edition of the County Championship is set to begin on April 05, one of the national-level first-class cricket competitions across the globe.
Indian Players in County Championship 2024
Several Indian Players have been part of County Championships in recent years, with eighteen clubs across two divisions signing up their players from overseas. The County Championship 2024 has signed five Indian players across various franchises.
Karun Nair (Northamptonshire)
The 32-year-old Karun Nair debuted in the County Championship on September 2023 for Northamptonshire, where he smashed 78, 150, and 21 in three innings.
He will be returning to the franchise for the upcoming edition to play in seven matches for the first part of the summer.
Prithvi Shaw (Northamptonshire)
Prithvi Shaw who had an impressive start in his County debut in 2023, has been restricted for Northamptonshire’s outing due to the knee injury he sustained and will be joining the side from June.
He smashed 244 and 125* in the third and fourth matches in the previous season. He will be returning to the squad as a replacement for Karun Nair.
Cheteshwar Pujara (Sussex)
Cheteshwar Pujara has been part of the County Championships in various seasons after his debut in the tournament for Derbyshire in 2014.
He has played for Yorkshire during the 2015 and 2016 seasons and has played for Nottinghamshire in 2017 before joining as a regular at Sussex in 2022.
He has amassed 1743 runs in 16 matches he played including 8 hundreds at 79.22. He even led the county in 2023 but will be available only for the first seven matches in 2024.
Jayadev Undakat (Sussex)
Jayadev Undakat who was the captain of Pujara at Saurashtra has played three matches under his captaincy in 2023. A left-arm seamer, Unadkat has led Saurashtra to two Ranji Trophy titles. He picked up 11 wickets for Sussex last season.
Yadvinder Singh (Worcestershire)
The 28-year-old pacer Yadvinder Singh yet to play his professional cricket is set to play in County Cricket as an overseas cricketer in 2024. He is expected to get a British passport by the start of the 2025 season.
Other than Indian players, Many Australian players are also set to play in the County Championship in the 2024 season.
With the championship set to start on April 05, Middlesex and Glamorgan will be playing in the first match at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
