The Indian team wore black armbands during the third Test in Rajkot on England’s tour of India in 2024 to pay tribute in the memory of the former India captain Dattajirao Gaekwad.

The Indian cricket team wore black arm bands on day 03 of the third test of the five-match series against England to honor to late Dattajirao Gaekwad.
Dattajirao held the distinction of being India’s oldest living Test cricketer, who passed away at the age of 95. Dattajirao notably led India during the tour of England in 1959 and played in 11 Tests.
Under his leadership, Baroda secured victory in the Ranji Trophy during the 1957-58 season by defeating Services in the final.
On this occasion, BCCI took X to announce Team India will be wearing black armbands in memory of Dattajirao Gaekwad, former India captain and India’s oldest Test cricketer who passed away recently.

India scored 445 runs on the first innings of the third test while England scored 319 runs on their first innings.
Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja also shined in the first innings of the test where they hit centuries. Ravindra Jadeja joined a partnership with Rohit Sharma to help India recover from 33/3 to score 200+ runs in the match.
After Rohit Sharma’s dismissal, Jadeja joined a partnership with Sarfaraz Khan where the debutant smashed a half-century. Batting on the 99 in the final session of day 01, Rajkot’s star Jadeja carelessly called up Sarfaraz Khan for a run where Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed for 62 runs.
On the other hand, Dhruv Jurel scored 46 runs in his debut match while Ravichandran Ashwin scored 37 runs in the first innings. With Bumrah‘s 26 runs, India set up a score of 445 runs in their first innings
Mark Wood was the leading wicket-taker of England in the first innings of the third test.
On the other hand, Ben Duckett scored 153 runs in the match helping the side to revive in the first innings of the match. Mohammed Siraj bagged four wickets in the innings, while Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja dismissed two batters each in the match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma opened in the second innings of the third test at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
