Axar Patel’s Heroics Go In Vain as Dasun Shanaka Holds Nerve at the End. He scored 56 off 22 balls in the last few overs which boosted the run and also bowled the final over and offered just 4 runs.
Dasun Shanaka’s heroics with Bat and Ball in the end which helped Sri Lanka to win the 2nd T20i by 16 runs and leveled the series.

1st Innings:
Pathum Nissanka & Kusal Mendis from Sri Lanka gave a good start initially. Kusal Mendis fall in the Chahal’s spell for 52 runs (32 Balls).
It was good to see some brilliance in fielding by Rahul Tripathi debutant who took the fantastic catch in the deep to dismiss Pathum Nissanka at 33(35).
Umran Malik bowled well in the Middle by taking wickets of Asalanka & Hasaranga in the consecutive balls.

After which the heroics of Sri Lankan Captain Dasun Shanaka. He came in when SL was 110-4 & finished it at 206-6. He scored 56 runs in 22 balls that includes 6 sixes and 2 fours with SR of 254.55.
Shivam Mavi went wicketless in his 2nd T20I match in his career by offering 53 runs in his 4 overs. Arshadeep singh who came back into the playing XI after his illness didn’t do well. He bowled hat-trick of No Balls in an Over and become a talk point for everyone.
Again on his second over, Arshdeep Singh bowled 2 No Balls and got himself into a bad position. He become the 1st Player to bowl maximum No balls in the T20I History with 12 No Balls so for. He went very expensive by offering 37 runs in just 2 overs.
Nice gesture from Indian Players who appreciated the Shanaka’s Batting.
But Dasun Shanaka wasn’t picked up any IPL Team in the IPL 2023 Auction & now they should be seeing this as well. He has brilliant record in Asian Country.

2nd Innings: Target for Team India is 206 runs to Win in 20 Overs.
Indian Openers didn’t get the timing right and they started to fall for Sri Lankan bowlers right from the 2nd Over.
At 9.1 overs India was 57-5. They lost the top order batsmen’s Ishan Kishan(wk), Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi & Hardik Pandya(c). It wasn’t a match what Rahul Tripathi was looking for.
Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel are the two who brought India back into the chase. Their strike rate keeps increasing for every overs and they batted in a way that threatened the opponents Sri Lanka.
Dilshan Madushanka took the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav at 15.5 Ovr and gave bit of relaxation for Sri Lankan Fans. But the new comer, Shivam Mavi started the show with some good boundaries. Mavi and Axar gave a good fight at the end but it wasn’t enough to win for Team India.
Axar Patel scores his maiden T20i Fifty.
One over left for Hasaranga and Axar Patel in crease should be waiting to punish him. But there was a change in plan and the captain comes in with the ball. Dasun Shanaka bowls the final over of the match when India need 21 runs from it.
Axar Patel 65(31) & Shivam Mavi 26(15) lost their wicket in the final over of the chase. After a great fight India lost the match by 16 runs. Credit for the Sri Lankan bowlers as well.
