India records for Most wins in T20Is
India is currently playing a five-match T20I series in a home tour against Australia where they lead the series 3-1. After being underperforming throughout the series, the all-rounder Axar Patel helped the side to win against the Kangaroos by 20 runs difference.
It was their 14th T20I series win at home. With this victory, India has won the most matches in the short format and surpassed top performer Pakistan who had 135 victories out of 226 matches.
Since their debut in 2006, India has 136 wins in the shortest format out of 211 matches they’ve played. The match in Raipur kicked off with Australian skipper Matthew Wade winning the toss and chose to bowl.
India had a decent start as the opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj had scored 50 runs in partnership. Rinku Singh scored 46 runs on 29 balls while Jitesh Sharma scored 35 runs on 19 balls. Despite scoring runs they also get dismissed at regular intervals.
With a target of 175, Australia had an impressive start scoring 40 runs in 3 overs. With the breakthrough in their partnership, their batting order collapsed and eventually failed in the chase.
Travis Head scored 31 runs on 16 balls, Australia put up a good fight as they chased the score till the end, but they lost the match 20 runs short. Axar Patel dismissed three wickets after being underperforming in the first three T20I matches.
