India has become the first team to beat Australia in Perth Stadium as the Jasprit Bumrah-led side secured a 295-run in the first test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. They have even surpassed their previous record of 222 runs won back in 1978 in Sydney.
This is India’s largest test win against Australia after the hosts bowled out for 238 runs on day 04 of the test match. This comes after the visitors set a mammoth target of 534 runs against Aussies. Eventually, they won the match to take a 1-0 lead in the five match test series.

India has reclaimed their spot in the WTC points table with 61.11 percentage points.
Bumrah-led side delivered a breaking performance with Jasprit Bumrah picking eight wickets across the match and mindblogging centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli in the second innings.
After a shocking 0-3 defeat in the hands of New Zealand at home, it was much needed victory for India, despite Rohit Sharma missing the test and Shubman Gill’s injury.
Gambhir’s call on benching all-rounders Ashwin and Jadeja has paid off. Bumrah’s electrified performance along with his leadership qualities has lead the side to reignite side’s confidence.
He was named as the player of the match. While speaking in the post match conference, Bumrah said, “Very happy with the beginning. Were put under pressure in the first innings, but the way we responded after that – very proud. Played here in 2018.”
“I remember that when you start here, the wicket is a little soft and then it gets quicker and quicker. Was relying on that experience. This wicket was a little less spicy than the last one.”
“We were really well prepared so I was telling everyone to have faith in their process and ability. On a given day, experience does matter, but if you have faith you can do something special.”
“Can’t ask for anything else. Jaiswal has had a great start to his Test career. This was his best Test innings probably. He left the ball – he has an attacking nature, but he left the ball well and played long.”
“About Virat – I didn’t see him out of form at all. On challenging wickets it’s hard to judge if a batsman is in form. He was looking good in the nets. Always enjoy the support,” concluded Jasprit Bumrah.
Coming to the tournament, the second match of the Australia-India tests will begin on December 06 at Adelaide oval.
