Team India was eliminated from the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 after New Zealand secured a stunning victory over Pakistan in the Group A final match and entered the semi-finals.
The women in blue have lost two games in the group stage matches and their semi-final qualification depended on Pakistan’s win over New Zealand. But New Zealand pummeled Pakistan and secured a 54-run victory on October 14 at Dubai.

With the competition started in 2009, India’s women’s cricket team has been part of every edition to date.
Despite India has not won any T20 World Cup title so far, they had an impressive run in the last three editions making up to the semi-finals for two seasons and one final in the year 2020.
In nine editions, the women in blue has made it to the semi-finals four times and played in the 2020 finals. Australia has been the most successful team in the women’s T20 World Cup with 6 titles.
India Women’s Run at T20 World Cup Year-wise
- During the 2009 edition, Jhulan Goswami-led India women made it to the semi-finals of the event before being knocked out by New Zealand in the semi-finals.
- In the second edition of the tournament played in 2010, the Women in Blues faced a similar fate as they were knocked out of the tournament by Australia in the semi-finals.
- In the 2012 edition in Sri Lanka, the 2014 edition in Bangladesh and the 2016 edition at home, Indian women failed to make it past the group stages.
- During the 2018 edition hosted by the Caribbean, Harmanpreet Kaur led the side to the semi-finals where they suffered a loss to England in the semi-finals.
- The women in Blues’ best performance comes from the 2020 edition where they managed to enter the finals of the competition, but suffered defeat against Australia to complete as runners.
- On the 2023 edition of the tournament, India was able to qualify for the semi-finals but couldn’t move further as they got knocked out of the tournament.
