    India Bowled Out for Lowest Test Total by New Zealand at Home

    Team India was bowled out for 46 their lowest total at home, during the second day of the first test of New Zealand tour of India 2024 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

    Matt Henry and William O’Rourke made destruction in India’s batting lineup picking five and four wickets respectively.

    Only Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal managed to pick double-digit scores while Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah were dismissed for a duck.

    Opening to bat first after winning the toss on Day 02 following a washout on day 01 of the test, Rohit Sharma was the first one to depart. In Shubman Gill’s absence, India moved up to no. 3 from his regular position from his regular position at No. 4 Kohli fell for an eight-ball duck before they lost four more wickets before lunch.

    India scored only 34 runs at Lunch, their sixth-lowest total at the fall of the sixth wicket. Though Rohit Sharma’s side went past India’s lowest test total of 36 from 2020 in Adelaide, the poor display marked their lowest test total at home.

    Matt Henry had stunning figures of 5/15 and also reached 100 Test wickets. Henry claimed his fourth test five-wicket haul by having Kuldeep Yadav caught in the gully.

    This is India’s third-lowest total in a Test behind 36 against Australia in Adelaide in 2020 and 42 against England at Lord’s in 1974. India’s total was the 18th lowest by any team in tests.
