India’s star batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma suffered a massive dip in the newly updated ICC Test rankings for batters on Wednesday after struggling with the bat during the Adelaide Test loss to Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Kohli dropped from No.14 to No.20 following his twin failures in the pink-ball match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli scored 7 and 11 during the match in Adelaide after the star batter scored his 30th test hundred.
Rohit who dropped to No.6 for the 2nd test against Australia, also failed to make a mark with the bat and scored just 9 runs across both innings. As a result Rohit Sharma dropped five places and be rankd at No.31 in the latest rankings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to the best batter in the ranking as he is currently in the No.4 spot. Jaiswal was out for a golden duck in the first innings at Adelaide and got dismissed for 24 runs in the second one.
Rishabh Pant is the second best ranked Indian batter at the moment, but he dropped 3 spots in the ranking after the Adelaide Test loss for India to be No.9.
Meanwhile, in the bowler rankings, Jasprit Bumrah continued at the top position after his 4-wicket haul in Adelaide. Bumrah has regained the top spot after his heroics in the Perth test.
There was only one chanve in top 5 bowlers rankings as Ravichandran Ashwin was replaced by No.4 spot by Pat Cummins who wrecked the Indian batting order during the 2nd innings of the Adelaide Test. Cummins had picked up a 5 wicket haul.
Meanwhile Harry Brook secured a top spot in the ICC men’s batter rankings surpassing Joe Root in the charts.
There was no changes in the teams rankings, with Australia leading the way with 124 rating points while India remains in the second spot with 111 rating points to their name. South Africa who completed a 2-0 series win over Sri Lanka to boost their WTC final chances is in 3rd spot with 109 rating points.
