IND vs SA T20I 2022: Aiden Markram Ruled Out of T20I Series

South African batter Aiden Markram has been ruled out of the remainder of the 5 matches T20I series which South Africa led by 2-1.

The touring nation South Africa who won the first 2 matches comfortably, lost the third match by 48 runs in Vizag.

Winning the toss, South Africa let India bat first where Rishabh Pant India scored 179 runs for 5 wickets loss at the end of the 20 overs. With Harshal Patel’s 4 wickets and Chahal’s 3 wicket haul, India won the match by 48 runs.

According to a statement issued from Cricket South Africa, he “spent seven days in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19 last week and will not be able to complete his return to play programme in time to take part in the remainder of the T20 series.”

The statement further wrote that Markram is healthy and has been cleared to return home.

“The player is healthy and well and has been cleared to return home to also look after his mental and emotional wellbeing after isolation in a local facility as required when an individual tests positive on tour.”

The statement further said that a decision on wicketkeeper batter de Kock’s availability for the remaining two matches will be made in due course by CSA’s medical team.

“Wicket-keeper batsman, Quinton de Kock, has made a marked improvement in his recovery from a wrist injury. The Proteas’ medical staff will continue to assess his progress and make a decision on his availability for match four in due course,” it read.

The 4th T20I between India and South Africa will be played on June 17 in Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. While the final T20I match will be played on June 19 in M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
