The Pakistan Cricket Board announces the date for IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 which will be one of the four matches hosted by Pakistan will feature in Kandy.

IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023 match Schedule

As the Asia Cup 2023 is set to start on Sept 2, the match is scheduled to play between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf will announce the hybrid model of the Asia Cup 2023 on July 19. It is expected to be model will be released to the media at 7.15 p.m. PKT at Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore.

The four matches will take place in Pakistan and the remaining nine matches including the final, will be played in Sri Lanka.

India is set to travel to Pakistan to take part in the Continental event, which will serve as a warm-up tournament for the team ahead of the ICC men’s ODI World Cup 2023, which will be starting on October 5 hosted by India.

According to the sources, the opening ceremony of the Asia Cup is about to take place in Multan.

The tournament opening match will be played between hosts Pakistan and Nepal and will be dated on August 30 or 31st, the other three matches in Pakistan will be hosted at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is on Sept 2 and if both of them advance to the Super Fours, they will face off each other on September 10.

India is one of the most successful teams in the history of the Asia Cup, with seven titles in their hand. The Defending Champions Sri Lanka have won six times, while Pakistan holds the title winner two times.

Bangladesh have reached the finals in the tournament three times, waiting for their first title victory. Pakistan is placed alongside India and Nepal in Group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are in Group B.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four stage. The Asia Cup will be played in the ODI format which acts as a warmup match before the ODI World Cup that begins on October 5 in India.

The original model of the tournament was prepared by the PCB in which Pakistan was scheduled to host four matches in one city. However, Multan was added as the second venue after a new PCB administration takeover by new chairman Zaka Ashraf.

Bangladesh is slotted to play Afghanistan on September 3 in Lahore followed by Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan at the Gaddafi Stadium on September 5.

The schedule also confirms that where they finish in the first round, the rivals Pakistan and India will remain In A1 and A2 while Sri Lanka will be in B1 and Bangladesh B2.

Suppose, if Nepal and Afghanistan qualify for the Super Four stage, they will take the slot of the team knocked out.

The only Super Fours match listed in the draft schedule will be played in Pakistan on September 6 between A1 and B2.

Asia Cup 2023

The 16th edition of the Asia Cup tournament is scheduled to play between August – September and will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Originally, the Asia Cup 2023 was scheduled to take place in 2021 but owing to the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was postponed.

Asia Cup 2023 will also be the first of its kind to be co-hosted by multiple countries. Four matches of the Asia Cup 2023 will be played in Pakistan while the remaining nine matches of the tournament will be played in Sri Lanka.

Asia Cup will follow both ODI and T20I format and it alternates every 2 years. The Asia Cup 2023 will follow the 50-overs format.
