IND vs NZ 3rd test playing 11; Bumrah rested, Henry replaces Southee

IND vs NZ 3rd test playing 11: The third and final test of the New Zealand tour of India 2024 is scheduled to be played between November 1 and 5 in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

India lost the three-match test series after losing the first two games. Hosts are under pressure to win this game in order to avoid a series whitewash. India scripted an unwanted record by losing their first home test series in 12 years and is on the verge of creating another unwanted record.

If India loses the Wankhede Test then it will be the first time since 2000 that they were clean swept by an opposition in a home Test series. Notably, the last time India entered a Test of a home series having already lost the series was in Wankhede, twenty years ago.

TOSS: New Zealand have won the toss and have opted to bat

India Playing 11: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj

New Zealand Playing 11: Tom Latham(c), Devon Conway, Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell(w), Glenn Phillips, Ish Sodhi, Matt Henry, Ajaz Patel, William ORourke

Winning the toss, New Zealand captain Tom Latham said “We are gonna have a bat. Looks a good surface, hopefully put a good total on the board. What we did in Bangalore was great, we had to switch quickly to Pune and nothing changes.

A new opportunity this game. It’s about adapting to the surface as quickly as possible. Santner has got a side strain. Ish Sodhi comes in. Henry is back for Southee”.

After forcing to bowl first Indian captain Rohit Sharma said “We understand that we haven’t played well in this series. Looks like a good pitch. Hopefully we can restrict them as quickly as possible. Our focus is on this Test match. Bumrah is not well, Siraj comes in for him”.

What to expect in Wankhede Stadium today?

Conditions are hot and humid, as always in Mumbai. The pitch is expected to be on the drier side and play as traditional red-soil pitches do. It underwent some brushing all through the day before the game as well. So expect some turn and bounce for the spinners.
