The IND vs BAN 2nd Test play on Day 01 has been called off due to rain where the visitors Bangladesh managed to score 107 runs for the loss of three wickets.
The first day’s play has been concluded with rain after just 35 overs. Bangladesh managed to score 107 for the loss of three wickets when bad light followed by a spell of rain cut the day’s play short midway through the second session.
The visitors were put to bat on a pitch with green and under overcast conditions by Rohit Sharma. Openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam blocked out the opening spell by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
Zakir was sent out on a 24-ball duck edging a full delivery to yashasvi Jaiswal at the first over of Akash Deep’s spell. The right arm pacer got support from the DRS to dismiss the opener.
Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto built up the partnership in the middle to balance the side till lunch.
Offspinner Ashwin who smashed his sixth test century recently, dismissed Shanto from the front after the session break before bad light forced them to stop the match. Monimul and Mushifiqur Rahim will continue the match on day 02.
Recently, Shakib Al Hasan announced his international retirement at a pre-match conference and could be his last test match if he is unable to return home for a slated South Africa series.
India is the favourite to cleanse the two-match series after winning the opener match by 280 runs and tends to remain in the top position of the WTC points table.
Bangladesh completed day 01 of the second test by scoring 107 runs for three wickets at Green Park, Kanpur.
