The IPL 2023 Final game between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans saw many emotional moments including Dhoni’s celebration over the victory by lifting Jadeja.
The IPL 2023 final was scheduled to play on May 28 in Ahmedabad but owing to the heavy rain flow, the match was postponed to its reserve day(May 29). Winning the toss, CSK choose to bowl first where Gujarat Titans scored 214 runs for 4 wickets loss at the end of the first inning.
While 4 balls bowled in the second inning, the rain intervened and halted the game. Match officials reduced the match to 15 overs with a revised target of 171(DLS method).
Though CSK kept their fans on the edge of their seat, they were in need of 13 runs off the final over where Jadeja and Dube stand at the crease. That was too short down to 10 runs off 2 balls where Jadeja struck a six and four of the deliveries and led the team towards a glorious victory.

In the post-match presentation, Hardik Pandya said “I think we tick a lot of boxes as a team. We play with a lot of heart, really proud of the way we kept fighting. We have a motto – we win together, we lose together. I’m not going to make excuses, CSK played the better cricket. We batted really well, special mention to Sai (Sudharsan), not easy to play that well at this level”.
“We have been backing the boys and trying to make sure we get the best out of them. But their success is their success. The way they have put their hand up and delivered – Mohit, Rashid, Shami everyone”.
“(On MS Dhoni) I’m very happy for him, destiny had this written. If I had to lose, I’d rather lose to him. Good things happen to good people, and he’s been one of the best people I know. God has been kind, and God has been kind to me as well but today was his night”.
Devon Conway won the Player of the Match award while Shubman Gill won the Player of the Series award for his impressive performance.
