The ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year 2024 has been announced which took an interesting turn as it doesn’t feature any players from the three powerhouses India, Australia and England.
The 2024 ICC Men’s ODI for the year offers quality, balance of the power hitters, consistency and Versatility.
India played only three ODIs against Sri Lanka and lost all three matches due to which the players were able to cut into the ODI squad of the year.
Openers of the team Pakistan’s Saim Ayub and Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been named in the squad. Ayub played nine matches and scored 515 runs at an average of 64, While Gurbaz amassed 531 runs in 11 matches.

The Sri Lanka batter Pathum Nissanka will be bat at No.3 who scored 694 runs in 12 matches with an average of 106.
The middle order will feature stars like Charith Asalanka, Kusal Mendis, Sherfane Rutherford and Azmatullah Omarzai.
Charith Asalanka who scored 742 runs in 17 matches, has been named as the captain. Kusal Mendis who scored 742 runs in 17 matches last year will be the wicketkeeper.
West Indies Sherfane Rutherford makes the team as a finisher, having scored 429 runs in nine matches with a strike rate of 120 and a mind blowing average of 106.
Azmatullah Omarzai, Afghanistan all-rounder makes into the squad after picking 17 wickets in 12 matches throughout the year.
Sri Lanka makes the list as Wanindu Hasaranga finds himself in the team for his efforts of 26 wickets in 10 matches with a best bowling figure of 7/19.
The team also has the pakistan pace duo of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. While Afridi picked 15 wickets in six matches, Rauf had 13 wickets in eight matches.
The last player will be Allah Ghazanfar from Afghanistan rounds up the team after having picked 21 wickets in 11 matches.
