Towhid Hridoy has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.

He was found guilty of breaching Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to discipline conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game.

The incident happened in the fourth over of Bangladesh Innings, when Towhid turned around after being dismissed and argued aggressively with Sri Lanka Players.

He was dismissed by Nuwan Thusara who picked up a five-wicket haul in the match. Thusara picked up a hat-trick in the game with Towhid as the second wicket of the feat.

The on-field umpires Sharfuddoula Saikat and Tanvir Ahmed, third umpire Gazi Sohel, and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman imposed charges on the player for his aggressive argument on the field.

Towhid Hridoy has been given one demerit point which was his first offence in a 24-month period. The player accepted the offense and the sanction proposal by Andy Pycrogt of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, which did not require a formal hearing.

The Level 1 breach carries a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of the player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Coming to the match, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 174 runs losing seven wickets where Kusal Mendis was the highest scorer in the match smashing 86 runs on 55 deliveries.

With a target of 175, Bangladesh started their innings where they lost all 10 wickets scoring 146 runs with Rishad Hossain being the only half-centurion for Bangladesh in the match. Nuwan Thusara played a crucial role picking up a five-wicket haul in the match helping the side to secure victory with a 28-run difference.

Sri Lanka won the T20I series 2-1 and awaits to play a three-match ODI series and two-match test series against Bangladesh. The first ODI match will be played on March 13 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
