Amid the speculations on whether will Pakistan eventually host the ICC Champions Trophy, there is finally some clarification on this matter as the World Sports governing body has released the ICC Champions trophy promo and the logo which confirms Pakistan as the host.
Reports were suggesting that they may lose the hosting rights if not accept the hybrid model, but the promo release has confirmed it all.
With India’s participation still unclear, India sticks with their stance of not travelling to Pakistan.
While PCB seeks clarifications from the BCCI from the BCCI, the alternation hosting options are being considered. Pakistan had earlier claimed that they have no intention of hosting the tournament outside the country.
Some reports suggest that, Pakistan may even consider pulling out of the Champions Trophy if it loses hosting rights, potentially increasing the tension between the two cricket boards.
As the tournament draws near, all eyes are on the ICC, BCCI, and PCB to see if a resolution can be reched that ensures the tournament proceeds in its originally planned host nation, Pakistan.
The Promo goes on to reflect cricket’s distinctive language and culture.
“The newly created visual identity is a digital-first vibrant expression, deliberately challenging the status quo, with an unconventional typographic logo which sets the tone for the look – bold and loud, confident and fun,” an ICC statement read.
“It has been designed to be agile, distinctive, and expressive, it’s inspired by the language of cricket; from the unique and integral words that describe the game, to the shouts when a wicket falls, to the name of each superstar that appears on the back of their kit.”
“Both the verbal and written words are an integral part of the sport and that is celebrated through the brand,” it added.
The schedule for the marquee event is yet to be out. It is expected to be released soon. It would be interesting to see if India travel to Pakistan for the mega event or not.
