ICC Board Meeting on Champions Trophy Stance Postponed to November 30

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to postpone the board meeting to November 30 regarding the venue for the Champions Trophy 2025.

According to media reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is standing firm against the hybrid model, according to which India will play their matches outside of Pakistan.

With BCCI and PCB are not to budge from their stance on Champions Trophy, the future of the tournament remains uncertain. According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is standing firm against hybrid model, while India has decided not to travel Pakistan for the tournament due to security concerns.

The ICc has been working to finalise the schedule and venue for Champions Trophy. With less than three months remaining until the tournament’s scheduled start, the ICC has yet to announce the fixtures, leading to delays.

Pakistan was awarded the hosting rights for Champions Trophy 2025 in November 2021 and the PCB started their works on renovating three of its stadium earlier in the year.

Due to political conflicts between two nations, India and Pakistan haven’t engaged in a bilateral series 2012-13 when Pakistan visited. However, they do play in the ICC events, with Team India coming out on top on most occasions.

Meanwhile PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi declared that India’s stance is unaccpetable as pakistan visits the neighbouring nation to play.

“Our stance is very clear. I promise we’ll do what is best for Pakistan cricket. I’m constantly in touch with the ICC chairman and my team is talking to them constantly.”

“We’re still clear in our stance that it’s not acceptable that we play cricket in India, and they don’t play cricket here. Whatever will happen, will happen on the basis of equality. We’ve told the ICC very clearly, and what happens next we’ll let you know.”

The arch-rivals were also the finalists of the 2017 Champions Trophy with Pakistan clinching their title after defeating India by 180 runs at The Oval.
