ICC announces rescheduled dates for IND-PAK clash in World Cup 2023

ICC has announced the updated schedule of the World Cup tournament which is set to begin on October 5.

ICC has confirmed that India’s match against the rivals Pakistan has been rescheduled and also informed that details of the other eight matches are also changed.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced a change of dates for nine ICC World Cup fixtures later this year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) explored dates to reschedule the IND-PAK clash in World Cup 2023 due to the coincidence of the dates with the first day of the Navaratri festival.

The IND-PAK clash is originally scheduled on October 15 in ODI World Cup 2023. However, the match will be played a day earlier on October 14.

Hence eight other fixtures have been rescheduled, including India’s game against Netherlands, which is rescheduled to November 12, instead on November 11.

Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad had been rescheduled to October 10, which was originally planned on October 12 and Australia’s big match against South Africa in Lucknow moved back a day before and will be played on October 12, Thursday.

IND-PAK match to be rescheduledNew Zealand’s game against Bangladesh is scheduled on October 14 in Chennai, but it has been moved a day back and it will be played on October 13.

The eagerly-awaited contest between India and Pakistan at this year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup has been rescheduled to a different day, while details of eight other matches have also been changed,” ICC said in a release.

With reference to the original schedule of the tournament, England’s match-up against Bangladesh in Dharmasala will be featuring at 10.30 am which was originally scheduled to play as a day-night fixture.

“As a result, England’s fixture against Afghanistan in Delhi will be moved from Saturday, 14 October, and will now be played 24 hours later on Sunday, 15 October,” the statement added.

Towards the end of the league stage, there are three changes with the double-header encounters of Sunday, 12 November being moved a day earlier to Saturday, 11 November – Australia vs Pakistan in Pune (10:30 AM) and England vs Pakistan in Kolkata (02:00 PM).

Meanwhile, India’s last league game against the Netherlands has now been shifted from 11 to 12 November, a day-night clash to be played in Bengaluru.

The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said that the Board of Control for Cricket had been discussing over the idea of making adjustments to the World Cup schedule. Shah further said that three cricketing boards had already written to the ICC requesting a change in the World Cup schedule.

ICC ODI World Cup 2023

The ODI World Cup 2023 is set to begin within two months and is hosted by India. This was the first time India hosted the big tournament on its own.

The previous World Cup tournament hosted by India in 1987 it was co-hosted by India and Pakistan. In 1996, again India and Pakistan hosted the tournament alongside Sri Lanka. In 2011, the World Cup was co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
