ICC Announces Match Officials for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

ICC announced an all-female group of umpires and match referees for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Ten umpires and three match referees will officiate in the upcoming mega event which is set to be hosted by Bangladesh in UAE from October 03.

10 teams were divided into two groups with each team playing the other team from their respective group in a single round-robin format. The tournament will be played in 23 matches over 18 days in Dubai and Sharjah.

With only less than 10 days available before the start of the event, the world sports governing body has revealed the complete list of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Officials.

ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees 

The match referees’ team includes GS Lakshmi who will be joined by Shandre Fritz and Michell Pereira, who are each officiating in their second Women’s T20 World Cup.

ICC Elite Panel of Umpires 

The group of experienced umpires include seasoned officials including Claire Polosask who will be umpiring in her fifth ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, while Kim Cotton and Jacqueline Williams will be taking charge in their fourth T20 World Cup.

Sue Redfern was the TV umpire for that final in Cape Town between hosts South Africa and Australia is set to make her fourth appearance in the tournament.

ICC Senior Manager, Sean Easey said, “The ICC is proud to be contributing to the advancement of women in our sport. To be announcing this all-female lineup of match officials for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is wonderful.

“This group, selected as the most deserving umpires for this event following their recent form in bilateral and other cricket, are some of the very best from around the world.

“We are confident that they will do a great job at this event. I wish them the best of luck as they oversee the world’s top women’s cricketers in what will be an exciting tournament for all involved,” said Sean Easey.

All 10 teams have announced their squads for the upcoming marquee event and are gearing up for the tournament. The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to kickstart with Bangladesh and Scotland clashing in the first match on October 03 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
