ICC Announces Increase in Prize Money for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Prize Money for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 which begins on October 03.

It is revealed that ICC has increased the total prize pool for the 2024 edition by 134% from the previous season. The boost ensures that the winners of the 2024 edition will walk away with 2.34 million dollars. The reigning champions were awarded with 1 million US dollars in the 2023 season.

The runners will also benefit from a 134% rise, securing 1.17 million US in the upcoming edition while the semi-finals will receive 675000 US dollars each more than three times their 2023 layout.

The prize money extends beyond the knockout stages, as each group stage win will now be rewarded with 31,154, reflecting a 78% increase from last year’s 17,500 US dollars.

Furthermore, the team that exits during the group stage won’t leave empty-handed. There is a base price of 112500 US dollars will be awarded to all 10 participating teams, totaling 1.125 million US dollars.

This ensures that every team receives support for their participation. Teams finishing fifth to eighth will receive 270,000 US million dollars each and teams finishing ninth and 10th team will receive 135,000 US dollars each. These changes highlight the commitment to growing and recognizing women’s cricket, ensuring that all the teams and players are well supported.

The historic prize rewards not only align with the ICC’s vision for Parity between the men’s and women’s games but also further elevate the status of the women’s T20 World Cup.

The ICC event will be played across two venues in UAE – Dubai and Sharjah between October 03 and 20.

All the group matches will be played until October 15 and the semi-finals are scheduled for October 17 and 18. The winners of the semi-finals will be facing in the big stages of the tournament which will be the ultimate showdown for the tournament.

The first match of the tournament will be played between Bangladesh women and Scotland women on October 03 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
