Dhananjaya de Silva opened on their victory in a two-match test series on Sri Lanka’s tour of Bangladesh 2024 after their win in the second test at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Sri Lanka won the T20I and test series on their tour of Bangladesh in 2024. He scored 70 runs in the first innings of the match while being sent out for 1 run in the second innings of the match.
While speaking in the post-match conference, the Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva said, “Our bowlers stuck to the basics and the batters did well as well. They were disappointed that they did not get runs in the first Test but they are experienced and it’s good that we have players like that.”
“I have played previously here, I was thinking about reverse swing for the pacers. We will play abroad in England and South Africa and I have full faith in my pacers,” he concluded.
Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 531 runs in their first innings. Starting their innings, top-order batters had an impressive start, scoring 96 runs for the first wicket.
Nishan Madushka scored 57 runs while Dimuth Karunaratne scored 86 runs before being dismissed by Hasan Mahmud. Kusal Mendis scored 93 runs while Dinesh Chandimal scored 59 runs in the match.
Dhananjaya de Silva scored 70 runs while Kamindu Mendis scored 92, helping the side to post a huge score of 531. In response to their 531 runs, Bangladesh scored 178 runs in the match whereas Zakir Hasan scored 54 runs in the match.
Asitha Fernando bagged four wickets in the match with an economy of 3.19 while Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, and Prabath Jayasuriya bagged two wickets each.
During their second innings, Sri Lanka scored 157 runs and Angelo Mathews was the only half-centurion during the second innings. Hasan Mahmud bagged four wickets while Khaled Ahmed bagged two wickets.
Bangladesh had a poor start in their second innings where the openers Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Zakir Hasan were sent out with 24 and 19 runs respectively.
But, Mominul Haque scored 50 runs on 56 deliveries to help the side to revive from early dismissal. With Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 81 runs, Bangladesh scored 318 runs in their second innings of the match. Kamindu Mendis has been named as the Player of the Match.
With no schedules before the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Sri Lanka will be preparing for the upcoming ICC event in the USA and West Indies which is set to begin on June 02.
Sri Lanka will be playing their first match against South Africa on June 03 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
