MSD Post Match Talk In IPL 2023 Final: MS Dhoni who led Chennai Super Kings since 2008 won his 5th IPL trophy by beating Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 final.

With the victory, MS Dhoni equals Rohit Sharma‘s record of 5 IPL trophies. CSK had a dramatic win in the IPL 2023 final game where Jadeja struck a six and a four in the last 2 deliveries with 10 needed for the victory.

MSD Post Match Talk In IPL 2023 Final

Apart from winning the trophy, many MSD fans hold their breath for the one answer to come out of his mouth regarding his participation in IPL 2024. As MSD will turn 42 while playing IPL 2024, his participation in the next season remains sceptical.

Harsha Bhogle who use to host the players in the post-match presentation made a question regarding his IPL future to which MSD replied “A lot depends on the body, I have 6-7 months to decide”.

In the IPL 2023 final post-match presentation, MS Dhoni said “Looking for an answer? Circumstantially if you see, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love and affection I have been shown wherever I have been this year, the easy thing would be for me to say “Thank you very much”, but the tough thing for me is to work hard for another 9 months and come back and play at least 1 more season of IPL”.

“A lot depends on the body, I have 6-7 months to decide. It will be more like a gift from my side, it’s not easy for me but that’s a gift. The way they’ve shown their love and affection, I think that’s something I need to do for them”.

When asked regarding his emotional overflow at a post-match presentation in Chepauk stadium MS Dhoni said “You do get emotional simply because it’s the last part of my career, it started over here and the first game when I walked down everyone was chanting my name. My eyes were full of water and I just stood there in the dugout for a while”.

I realised I want to enjoy this. It was the same thing in Chennai, it was my last game over there but it will be good to come back and play whatever I can”.

When Harsha Bogle asked about his feeling when fans chanted his name all over the ground, MSD said “They love me for what I am. The kind of cricket I play, I think everyone in the stadium thinks they can play that way because there is nothing orthodox about it. So I feel they can relate to me more than anyone else”.

“I don’t want to change myself, I never wanted to portray myself in a way which I am not. I just keep it simple”.

MS Dhoni opens up on the speciality of the team that won the fifth IPL title for CSK.

“Every trophy is special, but what is special about IPL is every crunch game you need to be ready”.

“That’s something we have done, there were lapses today, the bowling department didn’t work, but it was the batting department that took the pressure off them today”.

CSK teammates praise MS Dhoni for backing them to fulfil their given roles.

“I do get frustrated, it is human but I try to step into their shoes, every individual deal with pressure differently”.

“Ajinkya and a few others are experienced, so you don’t worry a lot about them. If anyone is confused, then can always ask”.

MS Dhoni recalls playing alongside Rayudu in the Indian cricket team and praises him for his contribution.

“The special thing about Rayudu is he will always give his 100% when he is on his field. But with him in the team, I will never win the Fairplay Award”.

“He always wants to contribute and he has been a fantastic cricketer. I’ve been playing with him for a long time, since the India A tours. He’s a player who can play spin and pace equally well”.

“It is something really special. I felt he would do something really special, I’m really happy for him. This game will be one he will remember, he’s also like me – not someone who uses the phone often. What’s important is that he has had a fantastic career and I hope he enjoys the next phase of his life”.
