“I feel it is a slow pitch” Towhid Hridoy Ahead of India T20Is

The Middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy has expressed his belief on the pitches saying it will be Slow ahead of the first T20I match in Bangladesh tour of India 2024.

Both India and Bangladesh will be entering unknown territory as the Shrimant Madhavaro Stadium is set to host their first International match on October 06.

T20 is a game of runs, every team want to score runs. But no international match has happened here, it is a new venue. We don’t know what will be the condition.” said Towhid Hridoy.

Bangladesh had their third practice session here on Saturday and Hridoy spoke about his assumption for the pitch condition.

“Looking at the practice wicket, I feel it is a slow pitch. In such wickets having a high-scoring game is very less. No IPL match has also happened here,” he said.

Hridoy also said that the team is here to win the series, even though they will miss all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who announced his retirement.

“Pressure is always there, but if we think about that then we will not be able to perform well, our focus is always on process and how to perform. Shakib bhai is not there, we will miss him but everyone has to go one day, we are hopeful we will be able to beat them,” he concluded.

As Shakib’s replacement,  another spin all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, has been included in the T20 squad.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain commented on this press conference saying, “The thing with Shakib Bhai is… since he has been around for so long, it will take some time to adjust, and it will be a bit challenging to set the playing eleven.”

“Because Shakib Bhai provided good balance from both aspects (batting and bowling). We’ve brought Miraz into the team. I hope Miraz can adapt to that role quickly,” concluded Najmul Shanto.

The first match of the India-Bangladesh T20I series will be played on October 06 at Gwalior International Cricket Stadium.
