    Hrishikesh Kanitkar Named As Batting Coach of Indian Senior Women’s Cricket Team

    Former Indian cricketer Hrishikesh Kanitkar has been named as the Batting Coach of Indian Senior Women’s Cricket Team.

    The left-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler Hrishikesh Kanitkar announced his retirement in July 2015 who remains the only captain in Ranji Trophy’s history to lift Elite and Plate league titles.

    Regarding the appointment of new Batting Coach for Indian Senior Women’s Cricket Team. BCCI Wrote “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the appointment of Mr. Hrishikesh Kanitkar as the Batting Coach of the Senior Women’s cricket team. Mr. Kanitkar will join the team from the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia starting 9th December in Mumbai”.

    “Mr. Ramesh Powar, former Head Coach of the senior women’s team will join Mr. VVS Laxman, Head of Cricket, National Cricket Academy, and will switch to Men’s cricket as part of the restructuring module of the BCCI”, the announcement reads.

    Though he was one of only three batsmen to have scored 8000-plus runs in the Ranji Trophy, he was remembered for hitting a boundary when India was in need of 3 runs off 2 balls against Pakistan in the Silver Jubilee Independence Cup final at Dhaka.

    Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Hrishikesh Kanitkar said: “It is an honour to be appointed as the new Batting Coach of the Senior Women’s team. I see tremendous prospects in this team and we have a good mix of youth and experience. I believe this team is ready for the challenge ahead. We have a few marquee events coming up and it is going to be exciting for the team and myself as batting coach.”

    Hrishikesh Kanitkar have an impressive coaching career – he was named as assistant coach of Kochi Tuskers Kerala in IPL but walked out of the contract even before the season began.

    Hrishikesh Kanitkar was named as head coach of the Goa cricket team for the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy season with a one-year contract. Hrishikesh Kanitkar worked as the head coach of the Tamil Nadu cricket team from 2016 – 2019.
