Asia Cup 2022 final match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan has become one of the most talkative points after Sri Lanka won their 6th Asia Cup title.
How CSK Inspired Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup Final Win
For a miracle, Sri Lanka lost the toss and went down to 58/5 in the 9th over but B Rajapaksa’s unbeaten 71 runs have lifter teams score to 170 runs at the end of the 20 overs.
Though the favors of winning the match are against Sri Lanka, the second-best team in the Asia Cup tournament made a strong comeback in the batting and made an impressive performance in the bowling department.
In the Asia Cup 2022 tournament out of the 11 matches played before the final, the team batting first had won only thrice. Two of those were when India and Pakistan beat Hong Kong and the other was when Virat Kohli’s century powered India to a big win over a tired Afghanistan side that was playing on back-to-back days.
Breaking this myth Sri Lanka have beat Pakistan by 23 runs and won the title for the 6th time standing behind India’s total of 7 titles.
After the match, Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka said that the team had in mind the IPL 2021 final match when Chennai Super Kings batted first and won.
“In IPL 2021, Chennai won the match batting first and that is what was in my mind. These youngsters know the conditions really well. Wanindu made a huge impact after losing five wickets. Chamika and DDS batted really well too.
The last ball six was the turning point. 170 was mentally the difference, as 160 always feels chasable. As a youngster, we knew Madushanka would deliver, and as a captain, we had to back him,” said Shanaka at the post-match presentation ceremony.
