Uday Sharan names Indian star Virat Kohli as his favorite cricketer. He stated that Virat’s consistent passion for the game and desire to win.

Uday Sharan-led India side is set to take on Australia in the finals of the U-19 World Cup 2024. India has been unbeaten in the competition and will be looking forward to clinching the title for the sixth time.

While speaking ahead of the finals, Uday Sharan opened up about his favorite cricketer in a PTI interaction.

“Virat Kohli is my favorite because his passion and aggression are amazing. His love for the game, enthusiasm, and desire to win inspires me. I have never met him but we have talked on the team video call. I want to meet him very soon,” the 19-year-old said.

India and Australia will be meeting in an ICC event for the third time in a year. Australia has been taken advantage of by India in the WTC finals and ODI World Cup finals in 2023. But he did not have revenge in mind.

“I am not thinking anything like that. We are focusing on our game and we have to give our best. We are playing according to the match conditions. Every match is important because it is the World Cup and all the teams are good,” the batter asserted.

The Indian captain believes that he won’t have any pressure while taking on Australia in the finals.

“I never think about it. I don’t think about the past. I just think about how I can give my best for the team and how to get the best out of the team,” he commented.

Sharan was the leading run scorer in the U-19 World Cup 2024 where he amassed 389 runs in six innings with an average of 64.83.

He smashed 81 runs on 124 balls during the semifinal match against South Africa of the World Cup at Willowmoor Park in Benoni on Tuesday where India won the match by two wickets.

Meanwhile, Australia won the semifinal match against Pakistan and clinched their spot in the finals. India and Australia will be playing in the finals on February 11 at Sahara Park Willowmoore Cricket Stadium.
