Indian Women’s Cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur tagged the current Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024 as the ‘Best team going into the World Cup’.
Right before the team’s departure to the United Arab Emirates, Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur attended a press conference along with Head Coach Amol Muzumdar and Neetu David, the Chairperson of the Women’s Selection Committee.
The ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is set to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates between October 03 and 20 this year.
Initially, Bangladesh was awarded the hosting rights of the tournament owing to the unrest situation in the nation, the tournament was shifted to UAE while Bangladesh Cricket Board still holds the hosting rights.
As per the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 Schedule, India who has been placed in group A alongside Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play their first match against New Zealand on October 4 in Dubai.
While attending the press meet, Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her confidence in the Indian squad for the global event.
“If I talk about this team we have a few players who have been playing for a longer time and know their roles really well. I’m quite confident with this team and I can say that yes its the best team going into the World Cup”, said Harmanpreet Kaur in the press conference.
Though the Indian women’s cricket team have an impressive track record they still await to lift their maiden ICC T20 Women’s World Cup title. Women in Blue have made a total of eight appearances in the event and still failed to lift the coveted trophy.
Their best came out in the 2020 edition of the tournament played in Australia where they ended up as runner-up of the tournament.
