Lahore Qalandars have suffered a major setback after pacer Haris Rauf was ruled out of the PSL 2024. He injured himself on a dive to dismiss Hasan Ali in the match against Karachi Kings.

He was successful in catching the ball but took an impact when his shoulder hit the ground forcing him to throw the ball away. He was immediately brought under the care of the franchise medical team and was seen walking with a sling attached to his shoulder.

A report suggested that he would be out for a period of four to six weeks. The Pacer will be hoping to regain his fitness ahead of Pakistan’s tour of England in 2024 which is set to be played before the T20 World Cup.

“The medical panel, after consultation, concluded that he needs four to six weeks to recover, forcing him to miss the PSL season,” the Qalandars said in a statement.

Shaheen Shah Afridi spoke about the injury of the player and hopes the player will be fit soon enough. “I hope he returns soon, and we are praying for him,” said his franchise captain Shaheen Shah Afridi.

“As a team, we are deeply saddened by Haris Rauf’s injury. It was painful to see him missing out as he’s been a pillar of strength for us, and his absence will be felt.”

“In the face of adversity, we stand united, and I have full confidence that the team will rise to the occasion,” said Afridi.

“It’s indeed a setback for the franchise, but he is also Pakistan’s main bowler and we have a lot of cricket coming up ahead, so a pragmatic approach was to give him maximum time to recover.”

“Wishing him a speedy recovery and we eagerly await his return to the field stronger than ever. Our thoughts and support are with him during this challenging time,” he added.

Meanwhile, Qalandar’s Chief operating officer gave an update on the player saying, “Haris has been a crucial asset to the team’s bowling attack, and his absence will be felt.”

“It’s not a major injury or any broken bone, but considering him as a valuable asset for Pakistan, we didn’t want to risk his national prospects. Lahore Qalandars remain determined and focused on delivering strong performances in the remaining PSL matches.”

Lahore Qalandars stands bottom in the PSL 2024 points table as they suffered back-to-back defeats in the tournament. They lost all the five matches they’ve played.

Despite their losses, Qalandar’s Van der Dussen tops the list of Most Runs in PSL 2024 currently with 270 runs and a high score of 104* runs. Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi stands fifth in the most wickets taker table dismissing seven wickets in five matches.

The PSL 9 is telecasted on major TV channels in Pakistan and several digital platforms which include live streaming on Mobile, on the web, and live broadcast on TV.

As per the PSL 2024 schedule, Lahore Qalandars will be facing Multan Sultans in the 14th match of the tournament on February 27 at Gaddafi Stadium.
