Hardik Pandya Fifty Propels India to 196 against Bangladesh at Antigua

Hardik Pandya smashed an impressive fifty during the match against Bangladesh on June 22 to help the side set up a huge score. India is scheduled to play their second Super 8s match of the T20 World Cup 2024 tournament against Bangladesh on June 22 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

India has won their first Super 8s match against Afghanistan and looking for a victory at Antigua to increase their chances for their berth in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Coming to the match, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl where Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opened the innings while Mahedi Hasan opened the bowling attack. Rohit Sharma scored 23 runs on 11 deliveries including 3 fours and 1 sixes before being dismissed by Shakib on the fourth over. He was sent out on a full-length delivery where Jaker Ali took the catch at ease.

By this dismissal, Shaki Al Hasan becomes the first bowler to pick 50 wickets across all T20 World Cup Editions.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has been forging a partnership with Rishabh Pant aiming for a huge total in the match. By the end of the powerplay, India scored 53 runs for a wicket. In the 9th over of the innings, Virat Kohli was dismissed on the first ball for 37 runs. He was sent out on a short ball where Kohli wanted to go down the ground, but the ball struck the middle stumps.

Tanzim strikes again picking the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav for 6 runs. He was sent out on an outside full-length delivery where he tried to open the bat, but the ball got into the hands of Litton Das after Suryakumar delayed in match timing. India crossed the 100-run mark in the 11th over.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was sent out for 36 runs by Rishad Hossain in the fourth ball of the 12th over. He was sent out on a full fast delivery where Rishabh Pant opted for a reverse sweep but ended up dragging the ball inside a half-straight fielder where Sakib caught the ball due to lack of timing. By this dismissal, India lost four wickets for 108 runs.

Shivam Dube scored 34 runs before being dismissed by Rishad Hossain while Hardika Pandya scored an unbeaten 50 on 27 deliveries to help the side in the scorecard. By the end of 20 overs, India scored 196 runs losing for five wickets.

With a target of 187, Bangladesh had a fiery start Litton Dan and Tanzid Hasan had a positive start as they scored 35 runs for the first wicket. With the dismissal of Litton Das in the fifth over, the Bangladesh Batting lineup started to crumble.

They lost the wicket of Tanzim Hasan for 29 runs to Kuldeep Yadav in the 10th over. He bagged another wicket of Towhid Hridoy for four runs on lbw. With the dismissal of Shakib Al Hasan for 40 runs, Bangladesh lost four wickets scoring only 98 runs on the 14th over.

Arshdeep Picked the wicket of Jaker Ali while Bumrah picked two wickets including Rishad Hossain. By the end of the 19th over, Bangladesh scored 142 runs for seven wickets.
