Though many Indian cricketers were sidelined from the national squad for quite a long period some players fully recovered while Bumrah –  a key player for India made his return to the national team in Ireland series.

Jasprit Bumrah was named as the captain of the India side for the Ireland tour 2023 taking place in Dublin where India made a lead by winning the 1st T20I match on August 18. The 3-match T20I series will serve as a preparation match for India before Asia Cup 2023 which is scheduled to start on August 30.

The tournament is hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the inaugural match will be played between Pakistan and Nepal. The Asia Cup will be the perfect opportunity for the Rohit Sharma side to prepare for ODI World Cup 2023 which starts on October 5.

The Indian squad announcement for the event seems to be a highly expected one in the cricket world. Several Indian experts have given their opinion on the team’s line-up. Former players like Ravi Shastri, Sandeep Patil, and MSK Prasad have revealed their own selection suggestions for the 15-member squad.

Harbhajan Singh has also unveiled his own 15-member squad suggestion for the Indian team for the Asia Cup which has some unexpected selections.

He evaluated the players on various aspects of the recently completed West Indies tour. He also considered the pros and Cons of the India side in the T20I series against West Indies.

Harbhajan Singh said he was completely surprised with the results of the West Indies tour which he did not concern initially for his squad selection.

“I thought India would win that series easily. But the result has left many shocked and concerned. I was taken aback as well because West Indies, a team that did not make the World Cup, beat us. This indeed is a big achievement for West Indies, but a major concern for India,” Harbhajan said on his Youtube channel.

Yes, Kohli and Rohit weren’t there, and they won’t stay for long, but this young brigade that had toured West Indies has learn a lot from this. I previously said that India can make 2-3 teams, and they still can, but the results are yet to reflect,” he added.

Harbhajan backs Suryakumar Yadav’s inclusion in the squad and also supported Tilak Varma due to his performance in his T20I debut. He decided to omit Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson from his squad.

“He is a proven player and if you want to see him in the World Cup squad, this is the right time to bring him back,” Harbhajan concluded.
