The Ranji Trophy 2023-24 has featured various controversies, including a rule by Hanuma Vihari not to celebrate personal milestones this year.
Hanuma Vihari bans personal milestone celebrations
With the Ranji Trophy 2024 season beginning on January 05, all the teams are inspired to lift the domestic trophy. But within a few days, many controversial incidents have been marred including two teams from Bihar have came to play in the Ranji Trophy.
The latest incident that Andhra Pradesh’s Ricky Bhui revealed revealed a rule stated by the skipper Hanuma Vihari for the upcoming season. According to the rule, the Andhra side will not be celebrating personal milestones this year.
Bhui who scored an impressive 175 runs to help Andhra against Bengal in the Ranji Trophy match said that no players from the dressing room clapped for him because of this new rule.
“Vihari, as a leader, said there are no personal milestones. Whatever it is, it’s a team milestone. When I reached my hundred, no one clapped. It was mandatory that whatever was there, we had to chase it down.
“People usually get satisfied after reaching a milestone. No one should be satisfied until we are winning the game. With these small things, we have made sure that the team has to be together. We are so determined to cross the line this time.”
Andhra Pradesh played their Ranji Trophy first match against Bengal on January 05 where the match concluded in a draw.
Sourav Paul, Anustup, and Abishek Porel are the key players who had impressive scores in the 1st innings, while Lalith Mohan had a four-wicket haul in Bengal’s innings. They scored 409 runs in their innings while Andhra scored 445 runs in their first innings.
Andhra Pradesh will be playing their next match against Mumbai on January 12 at MCA Cricket Ground.
