England and Bangladesh are scheduled to play the 7th match of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 on October 10 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.

Speaking on this match, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Jonny Bairstow and David Malan opened the inning and made a 100-run partnership for the first wicket. Shakib drew the first blood for England by dismissing Bairstoe for 52 runs.

Following his dismissal, Joe Root joined Malan and made a 151-run partnership and pushed the team’s total beyond 250 runs. Without many runs from the lower order, England ended their inning with 364 runs for 9 wickets at the end of 50 overs.

Bangladesh’s Mahedi Hasan bagged 4 wickets in 8 overs at an economy rate of 8.90 while Shoriful Islam bagged 3 wickets in 10 overs and restricted England from scoring further.

Following his impressive strike, David Malan said “I did enjoy, really nice wicket, slowed down as it went on, thankfully for us, myself and Jonny (Bairstow) got a good partnership.”

“Felt that the new ball was skidding on, as it went on, it was slowing down and I hope it becomes slower in the second innings with the sun beating down, when it got to that stage, it was hard to time the ball. I thought we had to do something different, so I went a bit harder against the new ball. If we keep up with our discipline, we can win”, he added.

As of now, Bangladesh scored 144 runs for 5 wickets loss at the end of 27 overs where Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy stand at the crease with 45 and 10 runs respectively. Bangladesh still needs 221 runs to register their second victory of the tournament.
