The All-rounder Annabel Sutherland said that Australia are aware of Pakistan’s Spin attack ahead of the upcoming women’s T20 World Cup 2024 clash on Friday.
With Nida Dar to lead the spin unit, Nashra Sandhu, Tuba Hassan and others will pose a threat to the batting lineup.
Sadia Iqbal recently became the no. 1 spinner before Egnalnd’s Sophie Eccleston toppled her. Sutherland said that Australia are well prepared to neutralise the spin attack.
“Yeah, I mean, I think it’s just another opportunity to go out there in a World Cup, new conditions, adapt, and yeah, a new line-up as well. So yeah, we’re going to have to plan and think about as an individual how you’re going to take on their line-up,” Sutherland said in the pre-match press conference.
“I think the girls did some great work at training today. It seems like the Pakistan spin potentially could pose a bit of a threat, but it feels like we’ve had a good opportunity to face a lot of that in the last few weeks, particularly at training so I’m sure the girls will be ready. Not really from our point of view,” Annabel Sutherland said.
Sutherland also said that Australia is not fussed about facing India, a contest which could turn out to be a must-win affair for both teams.
“Yeah, I’m sure the leaders and the coaches are planning as they always do, looking at games they’ve played and that sort of thing, which is something we do consistently for teams we’re coming up against. But all our focus is on tomorrow’s game,” Annabel Sutherland added.
Australia are placed at the top of the Group A points table and a win in their upcoming clash against Pakistan will confirm their berth in playoffs.
The Australia-Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup 2024 will be played on October 11 at Dubai International Stadium.
