Texas Super Kings fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the ongoing Major League Cricket 2024 owing to a side strain. The 23-year-old sustained the injury during the Super Kings’ opening game against Los Angeles Knight Riders which they lost by 12 runs.

Texas Super Kings have not yet revealed a replacement player for Coetzee and opted to replace him in the playing 11 with veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo for the subsequent washed-out game against Washington Freedom.
Regarding the announcement, the official statement reads “Pacer Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the 2024 edition of Cognizant Major League Cricket. He sustained a low-grade left side strain during the Texas Super Kings’ match against the Los Angeles Knight Riders on the 5th of July. The Super Kings wish him well as he recovers and prepares for his international commitments with South Africa”.
With a victory in the first three games, Texas Super Kings managed to hold the top spot in the MLC 2024 points table with an NRR of +1.242.

Gerald Coetzee who plays for South Africa in international cricket has about a month to regain full fitness before his next assignment.
South Africa was scheduled to tour the West Indies to play two Tests and three T20Is between August 7 and 27 with a 4 day warmup game to be played between July 31 and August 30. Coetzee was included in the South Africa Test squad for the West Indies tour.
Currently, South Africa has secured seventh place in the WTC points table playing only four matches. They have 8 more tests including two in West Indies, two in Bangladesh, and home tours against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
