The 23-year-old bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out for the two-match Test series against West Indies which is set to be played next month in the Caribbean.
South African bowler suffered a low-grade side strain on his left side while playing for Texas Super Kings in MLC 2024 earlier this month. He was then ruled out of the tournament and returned to South Africa for further examination, which revealed that he would not be cleared by the medical staff to participate in the series.

However, Cricket South Africa has brought in uncapped Migael Pretorius as the replacement for the injured Coetzee. The 29-year-old Pretorius is yet to make his international debut, despite being called up for the series against Australia in 2020.
Pretorious has played in 64 first-class matches and accumulated 188 wickets over nine years of domestic cricket experience.
The two-match test series will be part of the ICC World Test championship Cycle. West Indies are currently positioned at the bottom of the WTC points table after consecutive losses against England, while South Africa is positioned in the 7th position.
A T20I series will be played between the teams after the conclusion of the Test series. The first test match will begin on August 07 at Queen’s Oval Park.
