Sydney Thunder has poached Georgia Voll on a three-year deal to get more batting options in the top order ahead of the WBBL10.
Georgia Voll joins Sydney Thunder
Sydney Thunder has secured significant support for the batting lineup by bringing in all-rounder Georgia Voll on a three-year deal. The 20-year-old is one of the young talents in batting and also made an impact with her off-spin.
Georgia Voll has been part of the Brisbane Heat in the WBBL 2023 where the side finished the tournament as the runners after suffering defeat against Adelaide Strikers.

She struggled with the bat and slid down the batting lineup during the tournament. She completed the tournament with 206 runs with a strike rate of 112.56. But she displayed a stunning performance in the Challenger against Perth Scorchers picking four wickets for 19 runs.
However, She proved to be one of the young talents when she smashed a double century in the red ball Green and Gold game in Adelaide. She also hit two hundreds in the Women’s National Cricket League.
Voll had many offers from various WBBL clubs but she joined Thunder after having a conversation with coach Lisa Keightley.
“I never expected myself to play for a New South Wales team, to be honest, but after talking to Lisa and the guys down there, I’m super excited for the opportunity, and it’s a really good young group coming through,” she said.
“Lisa was quite clear on the role she wants me to play and what she wants me to do and that sort of got me over the line. I liked what the Thunder were about last year, really playing as a team and getting around each other on and off the field.”
Trent Copeland, Sydney Thunder general manager said, “Georgia has shown since the day she arrived on the scene that she is a special talent with both bat and ball If you were to pinpoint the next young star to crack the Australian setup, Georgia is it.
The 200 for Australia A in red-ball cricket, two 100s in WNCL last season, and the all-round capabilities we’ve seen for the Heat in WBBL. This is a huge signing for the club.”
Brisbane Heat continues to have significant changes in the squad with Voll’s departure along with them losing New Zealander Amelia Kerr to Sydney Sixers. Their coach Ashley Noffke had departed for a job in New Zealand.
But they have signed South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk on a two-year deal and will still have a formidable top order that includes Grace Harris, Georgia Redmayne, Laura Harris, and all-rounder Charli Knott.
