    Gautam Gambhir to Miss Canberra Game for Personal Reasons

    India will be playing their two-day tour game without Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir against Prime Minister’s Xl in Canberra starting on November 30 ahead of the second test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

    Gambhir has flown back to India for personal reasons. A BCCI spokesperson confirmed that the head coach will be back with the team before the second test which will be a day-night match in Adelaide starting on December 06.

    India lead the series 1-0 after they suffering a 0-3 whitewash series against New Zealand. Assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar, Ryan ten Doeschate and Morne Morker will be incharge in Gambhir’s absence.

    Just as Gambhir’s left, India will be bolstered by the return of Rohit Sharma who had been on leave during the first test.

    Rohit Sharma will be returning to playing 11 could make a change in his absence, despite KL Rahul made a successful return to the top of the order in difficult conditions.

    Meanwhile, Shubman Gill missed the Perth test with a fractured thumb and also makes it back to full fitness and India has to free up two places in the batting line-up.

    Yet there is no update on Gill’s recovery as there it time to go to the next match. He will likely to miss the tour game with the assessments becoming more regular.

    India secured a stunning 295-run victory against Australia after the hosts bowled out for 238 runs at Perth. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli smashed stunning centuries during the second innings helping the side to set a mammoth target of 534.

    Bumrah who has been the stand in captain in the absence of Rohit Sharma, picked a total of 8 wickets across the innings. However, Rohit Sharma has joined the squad and has been hitting net session and faced 200 deliveries bowled by pacers Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal, Akash Dayal and Prasidh Krishna.

    The second test of the series will begin on December 06 at Adelaide Oval.
