Ireland Women cricket team captain Gaby Lewis registered her maiden half-century against India during the first ODI of the Ireland Women tour of India 2025.
The Ireland Women cricket team is scheduled to tour India in January 2025 to play three-match ODI series. Notably, Ireland Women’s tour of India 2025 will mark their first tour to India and also will be the first-ever bilateral series between the two sides.
During the first ODI at Rajkot, Gaby Lewis scored a 75 ball half-century and helped her team in the fight back against India.
Lewis scored 10 ODI half-centuries so far in her career, but this 75-ball fifty becomes her first half-century against the India Women’s team.
Speaking of the match, Ireland Women won the toss and opted to bat first where Sarah Forbes and Gaby Lewis opened the batting attack. Though the duo made a steady start, Titas Sadhu in the fifth over dismissed Forbes for 9 and made the first breakthrough.
Following the opening batter’s dismissal, Una Raymond-Hoey returned to the pavilion after losing her wicket in an unexpected run-out dismissal, scoring just five runs.
While Orla Prendergast was expected to make a stand with the captain, Priya Mishra with her incredible bowling variation skill dismissed her via stumping in the second ball of the 14th over.
In the very next delivery, Priya Mishra dismissed Laura Delany for a golden duck and loaded pressure over the Ireland batters. While Ireland was down to 56 for four, Lewis and Leah Paul made an impressive partnership and pushed the team beyond the hundred runs mark.
