The Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was frustrated after he lost his wicket during the 9th match of the IPL 2024 schedule against Rajasthan Royals.
Frustrated Rishabh Pant smashes Sight Screen
Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals once again suffered a defeat in the IPL 2024 campaign. There have been questions raised on the DC’s chances of making it to the playoffs this year.
During the match, Rishabh Pant was disappointed after his dismissal on the first ball of the 14th over by Yuzvendra Chahal which made him frustrated, and smashed part of the sight screen. He was dismissed for 28 runs on 26 deliveries during the chase of 186 runs.
Batting first Rajasthan Royals lost five wickets to score 185 runs on 20 overs. Delhi Capitals bowlers Khalil Ahmad, Mukesh Kumar, Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a wicket each.
Despite their side suffering with early dismissals as they lost 3 wickets for 36 runs, Rajasthan was revived by Riyan Paran’s unbeaten 84 runs helping to post a score of 185 runs.
With a target of 186 runs, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh opened for Delhi Capitals where they had an impressive start, but Ricky Bhui was sent out on duck.
Rishabh Pant scored 28 runs on 26 deliveries, while Tristan Stubbs 44 runs on 23 deliveries. With Axar Patel’s 15 runs, Delhi Capitals scored 173 runs and lost the match by 12 runs difference.
“Definitely disappointed. The best thing to do from here is to learn from it. The bowlers did well through the 15-16 overs. But the batters did well at the death, hopefully, we do better in the next game. The platform that Warner-Marsh gave was very nice. We had to save wickets,” Pant said after the match.
After suffering back-to-back defeats, Delhi Capitals secured 8th position in the IPL 2024 points table. Delhi Capitals will be playing their next match against Chennai Super Kings on March 31 at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
