The Indian Cricket team is in the final phase of the preparation for the continental event which is set to begin on August 30. With most of the players completing their Yo-Yo test in fitness camps, the remaining players have undergone their fitness test in Alur, Karnataka.
Five Cricketers didn’t take Yo-Yo Test Ahead OF Asia Cup
The Indian squad has assembled at Karnataka State Cricket Association in Alur on a six-day camp for its final preparation before the continental event. The cricket squad is currently undergoing various fitness tests and medical tests along with the mandatory Yo-Yo test.
Virat Kohli had passed his Yo-Yo Test with a 17.2 score and posted his Yo-Yo test score on Instagram.
The Skipper Rohit Sharma and Vice-captain Hardik Pandya had also passed their Yo-Yo test. With most of the players completed their test, Shubman Gill smashed Virat’s score with a mark of 18.7.
According to PTI reports, five cricketers Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson, and KL Rahul didn’t undergo the test. Kl Rahul hasn’t regained full fitness as he suffered a niggle on his injury. He did attend gym sessions, but the team management and physios did not want to risk the player ahead of the Asia Cup by making him take the Yo-yo test.
“The Yo-Yo test being an aerobic endurance fitness test, the results could vary from when you last played and how much of workload you have gone through in the past week.
“Gill as of now has the highest score of 18.7. Most of the players have scored between 16.5 and 18,” said a BCCI source.
“If the players have a gap between two tournaments, the National Cricket Academy’s sports science team along with sports staff of India team does conduct all the mandatory tests,” the source said.
Bumrah, Tilak, Krishna, and Samson skipped the Yo-Yo test as they returned from the Ireland series. They directly started their practice sessions on Friday. India had begun their practice for the Asia Cup and their preparation details of the squad for the continental event were revealed by a broadcaster.
