Fazalhaq Farooqi injury update

Fazalhaq Farooqi was sent to the hospital due to a calf muscle injury, during the match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. He was forced to leave his ninth over in the match.

The second ODI match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan is scheduled to play on July 8, where Afghanistan won the match and leads the series 2-0.

Being forejudged to be the player of the match, Farooqi was dominating the whole field with 3-24 as Bangladesh could only make 169-9 in their 43 overs Afghanistan won by 17 runs by D/L method.

In the second game, he picked 3-22 by his bowling, but ACB officials said that they have sent him to the hospital for MRI on Monday as they want a reconfirmation from the medical team regarding the calf muscle injury.

The ACB officials said he will be facing a third ODI today saying, “He faced some problems the day before yesterday (in the opening game), and as he was finding some problems we send him to the hospital (today).”

Farooqi bowled in full rhythm during the practice session at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday and later in the evening was seen leaving the team for his scan.

Bangladesh vs Afghanistan 2nd ODI

This is the first time Afghanistan have won an ODI series against Bangladesh and their confidence will be sky high. They were battered in the one-off Test by the same opposition last month but we know how dangerous a side they are in white-ball cricket and they have put clinical performances in back-to-back games.

Bangladesh would be eager to bounce back after their poor show in both the games. Join us for the final ODI on Tuesday. Although it’s a dead rubber, there is pride at stake. We hope you enjoyed our coverage.

Mushfiqur Rahim had fought against Bangladesh single-handedly scoring 69 but it was not enough as Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan by 142 runs. Afghanistan has now taken a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz had his career-best 145 and Ibrahim Zadran added 100 to take Afghanistan to 331-9 against Bangladesh in Saturday’s second ODI in Chittagong.

The hosts appeared to be weakened by this week’s action on the second ODI involving Tamim Iqbal, who shocked his teammates by announcing his immediate retirement on Thursday only to rescind his resignation a day later.

Afghanistan’s openers had put the base for the total with their 256-run opening stand, the highest for the country on any wicket. Bangladesh, who lost the first match by 17 runs on Wednesday, had opted to bowl first after stand-in skipper Liton Das won the toss.

But the victory in the second ODI with a 142 difference was overpowering Bangladesh to have them in the ropes.

When you win the toss and bowl first, the bowlers didn’t do their job. We were not up to the mark in the field and with the ball. The way Gurbaz and Ibrahim batted, credit goes to them. After they departed, it was a different ball game, the bowlers bowled well.

As an opener, if you bat like 20-25 overs, it is not difficult but you have to control yourself to not give wickets in powerplay because they have good-quality bowlers. We will talk and come up with good plans.
