Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis praises Suryakumar Yadav over his 35-ball 83-run knock which led the team to beat RCB by 6 wickets.

As per IPL schedule 2023, RCB and MI are scheduled to play the 54th league game(MI vs RCB) of the season on May 9 in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Both teams were under pressure to win the game to increase their playoff chances.
Winning the toss, Mumbai choose to bowl first where RCB scored 199 runs for 6 wickets loss at the end of 20 overs. Chasing the target, Mumbai’s Rohit and Ishan opened the inning but unfortunately, Rohit failed to make an impact on the scoreboard.
But Mumbai’s star batter Suryakumar Yadav scored 35 balls 83 runs and led the team towards a much better position whereas Nehal Wadhera with his unbeaten 52 runs led the team to chase the target in 16.3 overs.
Mumbai with the victory moved to the 3rd spot in the IPL 2023 points table. Suryakumar Yadav was awarded the Player of the Match award for his match-winning knock.
Right after the defeat, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis felt they were 20 runs short.
“I think at least 20, the context of the wickets so far this season, anything under 220 with MI’s batting line-up. They are a strong side, they bat deep. We didn’t capitalise on the last five overs (of our innings), so very disappointed,” he said.
Du Plessis was in awe of Suryakumar Yadav’s 35-ball 83-run knock for MI. “(SKY) He’s one of the best, when he gets going he’s really difficult to bowl to. So many options you can’t shut him down. (Siraj) He’s been fantastic, the nature of T20 cricket is bowlers will be under pressure. That is the nature of the beast, long batting line-ups and guys are going to come out and play positively,” he said.
Mumbai Indians will play their next game against Gujarat Titans on May 12 in Mumbai. While RCB will play their next game against Rajasthan Royals on May 14 Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
