Eoin Morgan Praises Alex Carey
The Ashes 2023 is scheduled to play between June 16 to July 31 across five venues in England. Usman Khawaja (126*) and Alex Carey’s (52*) partnership led the Australian team to bounce back in the final session of Day 2 of the first Test match of the Ashes 2023 series on Saturday.
“I think it has been Australia’s day. I would rather be sat in Australia’s changing room right now and the difference for me has been Carey. You always expect an Australian to grind out some runs on this wicket. That impetus late on in the day and leading momentum into when the new ball came in from Khawaja and Carey was outstanding,” Morgan told Sky Sports.
Alex Carey scored 66 runs off 99 balls in Australia’s first inning which is the second-highest score for Australia in the 1st inning next to Khawaja’s 141.
Winning the toss, England choose to bat first and scored 393 runs for 8 wickets and declared on the very first day. Australia on the other hand, failed to make a lead and lost all 10 wickets while 8 runs were shot.
While England in their second inning failed to perform as they did in their 1st inning. During the 2nd session of Day 4, England scored 229 runs for 8 wickets loss and made a lead by 236 runs.
On behalf of England, in the 2nd inning, Joe Root and Harry Brook scored 46 runs each which remains the high score for England in the second inning.
