ECB invests 800 thousand Euros in Women’s Hundred Cricket
The ECB will invest in additional wages for the Women’s Hundred League in 2024 to close the gender pay gap with men’s salaries.
The investment will reflect the step taken towards gender equality in cricket and also indicate the need to reduce the salary gap between male and female cricketers.
The salary wages will increase up to 40% for all eight women franchises, that is it will rise from 250,000 Euros to 350,000 Euros.
The top three salary bands increased by 60% which indicates that the highest earners from each squad will earn up to 50,000 Euros who used to earn 31, 250 Euros in the 2023 edition of the league and 15,000 Euros in WPL 2021.
Although the salaries in Women’s Hundred are still not compared to the offers in the Women’s Premier League, the ECB hopes that the increase in wages will attract the top performers in 2024.
Smriti Mandhana is the highest-paid cricketer in the WPL 2023. She was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore during the WPL auction 2023 for INR 3.4 Crores.
