The England Cricket Board has announced the 16-member squad for a five-match Test series which is scheduled to start on January 25 in Hyderabad.
England squad for India Test series 2024
India will be playing a five-match Test series against England on a home tour in January. After completing a South Africa tour, India will be playing a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan before playing a home tour against England.
On this occasion, England has announced its Test squad for playing against India which includes three uncapped players. Surrey’s fast bowler Gus Atkinson and spinners Tom Hartley of Lancashire and Somerset’s Shoaib Bashir are included in the 16-member squad.
Atkinson helped his franchise Surrey to retain their County Championship title this year as he claimed 20 wickets in five matches he played with an average of 20.20. He was named in the England squad which played in World Cup 2023.
On the other hand, Hartley and Bashir were featured in the England Lions’ tour in UAE. Rehan Ahmed will be featuring in the England squad after his five-wicket haul in December 2022.
Ben Stokes will be leading the England squad, who will be not available for the Indian Premier League to manage his workload and fitness for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 next year.
